Premier League 08/09: CLASH OF THE TITANS 2

Arsenal V Man U!!

Every season, twice a year these two go at it. As most of you know I'm not a Man U or Arsenal fan, but you have to comprehend the history and rivalry of Arsenal V Man U. This fixture has never disappointed. Over the past 20+ years of my viewership, since the days of Bryan Robson and Tony Adams, this is one of the biggest fixtures on the Football calender.

So who will win? What will happen? Arsenal's vibrant youngsters as always have the "flair" to play football, but can string together the consistency of winning. Man U on the other hand have bounced back impressively from a slow start to the season. With a game in hand they are right on the tails of Arsenal. Going into the weekend they look like this:

                GP W D L GD  P
3. Man U  10 3   1   11  21
4. Arsenal 11 6  2  3   11  20

Most seasons, Arsenal can hold their own at home, but 2 losses to new comers Stoke City and Hull City, begs the question are they strong enough without Adebayor, Robin Van Persie and co to over haul Man United? So Niklaus Bendtder is going to unlock the United back line? Cesc ol Cesc. Young and passionate, but again lacks the ability to come through on the big domestic games. Don't tell me you are still living off that screamer he put behind Milan last year in the Champions League are you?? I'm afraid the much desired and overrated "beautiful football" that Wenger's men are supposed to play will not be apparent tomorrow afternoon (UK time).

Man U on the other hand, are rampant. Rooney is fit, as to is the soon to be Fifa World Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo. Sir Alex has options with Tevez, Nani and Anderson if he needs. I have to say the United are favorites going in. The Gunners have the upper hand over the past 2 seasons since moving to the Emirates Stadium.  A 1-0 win at Old Trafford and 2-1 win at the Emirates in 06, with a 2-2 draw at the Emirates and 2-1 win at home for United last season. Arsenal will have something to prove after losing to Stoke and seeing United's lack of killer instinct within the big 4 this season, this is looking like a draw.

So all in all, it would be rare for both teams not to score, so my pick for this week's big game will be 1-1. I think Man U's goal will come from an unlikely source and Arsenal will score from a set play. Specificity is the key, if I'm going to post this publicly!!! For those of you who will watch, enjoy!
